Sykes have today announced a global tie with Royale Marine ImPex for its own dedicated factory at Chirala Mandal, AP, India.
The new dedicated facility will focus on high quality Vannamei Shrimp from BAP approved ponds within 3 hours’ distance, by road, to the processing facility.
“Within 3 hours of being caught from the ponds, the shrimp will arrive at the factory, to be processed and frozen within one hour, ensuring we only receive the highest quality raw material that is freshly frozen” – A. Dale, Managing Director, Sykes.
Our supply deal guarantees a volume of 3500MT of peeled or headless Vannamei Shrimp per annum. It allows our farmers to seed their ponds with confidence, giving them more focus to process the highest quality shrimp possible.
The facility will be fully functional by July and dovetails perfectly with Sykes new processing and cooking shellfish facility in Liverpool.
This deal gives us direct access to the finest, BAP certified, raw material in India. Once raw material is in the UK, it can be cooked or packed raw to EU custom specifications in Sykes brand or customers own label.

Sykes are in the process of adding MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) for raw and cooked seafood products so will be able to offer chilled market by end of 2016.
