J Sykes & Sons is pleased to accept London Stock Exchange’s award as one of 1000 companies to Inspire Britain. The report is a celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses.
Sykes was established in Manchester in 1862 and has expanded to become one of the UK’s leading independent, wholesale, seafood suppliers. Through three generations of family ownership, the Sykes name has become synonymous throughout the seafood industry with quality, trust and reliability.
Companies were considered for the ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain’ list if they showed consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers.
With the recent announcement of the approval of the Sefton Meadow production facility to BAP accreditation, Sykes now proudly supply over 500 wholesale customers, key multinational retailers, food manufacturers as well as 1000 SME’s in the Fish and Chip shop industry.
The Chief Executive of London Stock Exchange Group, Xavier Rolet, said:
“High growth SMEs are the driving force behind the UK economy, developing the skills, jobs and growth we need.”
At Sykes, we now employ over 85 staff in management and support, a team of 40 in production and are always looking for fresh faces for our exciting new roles. With London’s Stock Exchange’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain as confirmation of the increasing success, we hope to continue moving from strength to strength.
